June 2023 SUCCESSFUL ROLL-OUT

Finally, the weather improved, and the team was able to make another attempt. This time, the roll-out was successful. By the end of summer, 1.5 meters of pure glacier had been preserved on Kebnekaise, along with 5 meters of snow and ice on the Helags Glacier.

The blankets are secured with large rocks and weights to keep them from blowing away on the mountain.

The blankets are sewn together by hand on-site in the mountains. It’s an incredibly time-consuming process.
