This year, the Glacier felt will only be placed on the Björling Glacier and not on the Helgas Glacier as in previous years. It takes a great deal of logistics and strength to transport the rolls to the glacier, all while ensuring we do so in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

Six wool rolls, each 30 meters long, are pulled up the mountain on skis. It’s too steep to do it any other way; for example, a snowmobile won’t work. In some places, the wool rolls need to be winched up due to the steepness.

The wool blankets are rolled out, sewn together, and finally secured with bags filled with rocks to prevent them from blowing away in the strong winds that can occur on Keb. We leave the blankets there so the wool can continue its job of protecting the glacier from melting throughout the summer.
